When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for individuals to redefine their place in society, to dissolve the ties that limit their growth, and to assert the right to thrive on their own terms, respect for humanity and reason compels them to articulate their intentions.

The journey toward change is not one to be taken lightly. History has shown that humanity endures great hardships before rising to demand justice. Yet, when the weight of oppression becomes intolerable and the system irredeemable, it is both necessary and just to establish a new foundation.

Democracy is a practice, to be changed over time to reflect the moment and the people—it’s become clear over the past few decades that we aren’t changing enough.
